Some Mercedes A-Class W169 and B-Class W245 cars use the Autotronic CVT 722.8 gearbox. If the transmission enters limp mode, operates incorrectly or displays a warning, the electronic control unit may be involved. Other causes must be ruled out first.
When to contact us
- A transmission warning appears on the dashboard.
- The car enters limp mode or has trouble moving off.
- Fault codes point to CVT speed sensors, such as P0722 or P0793.
What we check
We verify the vehicle model, VIN and module part number to confirm that it uses CVT 722.8. We check power supply, communication and electronic speed-sensor circuits. If a unit fault is confirmed, we assess repair options.
If the unit is removed
Send a clear part-label photo and diagnostic report. Mail-in acceptance must be agreed first. Additional setup and on-vehicle checks may be needed after installation.
When the vehicle comes to our workshop
If we repair the CVT 722.8 control unit on the vehicle, we carry out the necessary removal and reinstallation work. During reassembly, we replace the fluid in the relevant part of the CVT according to the transmission design and the work performed. If the customer brings or sends an already removed unit, we diagnose and repair the unit without changing fluid in the vehicle.
Important
This is CVT electronic control unit repair, not repair of the belt, pulleys, hydraulics or mechanical transmission. Not every A- or B-Class Mercedes has the 722.8 gearbox.
